French-Fried Vidalia® Sweet Onions
2 large G&R Vidalia® sweet onions
1 cup all purpose flour
1 teaspoon sugar
¼ teaspoon salt
1 egg (slightly beaten)
1 cup milk
1 tablespoon cooking oil
Sift flour with sugar and salt. Mix egg, milk and cooking oil and gradually add flour. Mix well until batter is smooth. Dip onions into batter and deep fry at 360-370 degrees. Slice onions ¼ inch to ¾ inch thick, separate into rings and soak for 10 minutes in ice water or buttermilk. Drain and fry.
Batter will make 25 to 30 onion rings.
