Helpful Storage Tips
- • Wrap Vidalia® sweet onions separately in paper towels and store in the refrigerator, or
- • Take sheer panty hose and tie a knot between each Vidalia® sweet
onion. Hang in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area, or - • Keep Vidalia® sweet onions on an elevated rack or screen and keep in
a cool place so the onions are not touching.
Freezer tip: Arrange chopped onions on a cookie sheet. Once frozen, store in freezer bags and seal. Whole frozen onions can be baked, but since freezing changes the texture, frozen onions should be only used
for cooking.
To enhance the sweet flavor of a raw Vidalia® sweet onion, store
it whole and unpeeled in the refrigerator and chill for about one hour
before serving. If serving sliced onions, peel, slice and soak in ice
water for about 30 minutes, then drain on a paper towel.
